The purpose of this document is to bring information to you concerning the grading policies and procedures that will be in place for all students and will be practiced by all teachers for the 2019-2020 school year. During the 2018-2019 school year, a standards-based grading review team completed a comprehensive review of our current grading practices in addition to reviewing educational best practices around grading and assessment. As a faculty, we have experienced many successes and a number of challenges with standards-based grading over the last few years. The greatest challenge of all was endeavoring to provide consistency in our expectations and practices in grading while navigating the waters of change. As a result of this experience, the review committee developed a document outlining the grading policies and procedures for implementation for the 2019-2020 school year. This document is contained herein. The intent of this document is to establish minimum expectations in regard to grading and assessment practices such as reassessment, homework. We sincerely hope this document will provide information and guidance and answer any questions you may have concerning grading practices. You will find these policies and procedures woven into the syllabi students will be receiving from their classroom teachers during the first days of school. Please keep it as a reference. Should you have any questions regarding these policies please feel free to contact your child’s instructor or the administrative staff at (608) 297-2126.
