The Montello School District is committed to using benchmarked and rigorous standards that influence the formation of the highest expectations for student performance as well as best prepare our students for post-secondary success. In Montello, the professional staff works closely in the Curriculum Review process to understand the standards when determining the specific learning targets (what we want students to know and be able to do) to direct student learning. In order to align expectations for students with the District’s desired learning targets for college and career readiness, the Montello School District School Board is committed to supporting high quality standards-aligned resources and instructional practices through our Board adopted curriculum process.
Pursuant to sections 18.30 (1g)(a) and 120.12 (13)(b) of the Wisconsin statutes, the Montello School District has officially adopted and implements the Wisconsin Academic Standards in all areas including: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Personal Financial Literacy, Music, Art, Physical Education, Health Education, World Language, Information and Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Technology and Engineering. The MSD educators have evaluated these standards to develop and review learning targets and objectives, assessments, unit and lesson plans and instructional routines and activities for their students.
For a complete listing of the Wisconsin Academic Standards, please go to http://dpi.wi.gov/standards.
Further, each content area is on a regular cycle of renewal and review. In establishing curriculum for our students, the MSD School Board looks for the following characteristics:
- Standards-aligned and measurable outcomes for all students;
- Embedded high-quality teaching and learning practices and routines;
- Collaborative design and delivery of skills and content; and
- Flexible and accessible learning so that all students can reach rigorous expectations.
