Meet Our Board Members

Rachel (Kolander) Gerner
MHS Class of 2003

Current Role: Digital Content Strategist at the University of Arkansas

Education: Master's Degree in TESOL and Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing and Public Rhetorics from the University of Arkansas

Why I serve: Ms. Susan Maasz inspired me to major in English Literature for my bachelor's degree. She loved books and her students--her genuine care for the people around her combined with high standards continue to inspire me. I serve on MEE to honor her legacy.

Jeffrey Wright
MHS Class of 2003

Current Role: Senior Policy Advisor to the UN Environment Programme, Senior Consultant at Change Agency

Education: University of Wisconsin–Madison (Undergraduate), University of Oxford (Graduate)

Why I serve: I had a wonderful high school experience, made possible by exceptional teaching in the arts, music, mathematics, and sciences. I serve because I am committed to ensuring current and future generations of students in Marquette County and beyond equally benefit from a vibrant and enriching educational experience.

Andy Zellmer

Current Role: Dairy Farmer

Education: Degree in Agriculture from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls

Why I serve: As a board member of MEE, my goal is to improve student engagement by supporting programs that enhance learning and create meaningful educational opportunities for Montello students.

Susan Zellmer

Current Role: Retired after a 32-year career at Brakebush

Education: Degree in Business from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls

Why I serve: Growing up, I attended a large suburban high school in Minnesota, where my graduating class had over 900 students. While bigger schools may offer more programs, they often lack opportunities for all students to participate. I serve on MEE to help preserve Montello’s close-knit, inclusive educational experience, ensuring every student has the chance to be involved.
